Franco's armed insurrection took place and was successful thanks to the material and ideological support of Italy and Germany. What happened in Spain continued to have repercussions on the European geopolitical chessboard in the years immediately following. Hence the interest in deepening the role these countries played in the civil war.

In this study we will focus on the strategic bombings of the Aviazione Legionaria delle Baleari on the Republican rearguard, paying special attention to the escalation of terror that targeted Barcelona. An abundant graphic documentation, which gives an account of the quantity, location, use of the bombs and their effects on the ground, supports -together with other primary evidences- our analysis.
